| April, 2006 Hi, Deborah ... the trip was FANTASTIC! We'll be back! Below are the answers to your questions: 1) What did you think about Belize? The people of Belize were the warmest and friendliest of any place I have been. There were so many things to do ... diving, fishing, rain forest excursions, tours of ruins, etc. 2) What did you enjoy the most about your vacation? The diving was awesome. The only thing I would suggest is that you refer people to Ecological Divers rather than Ambergris divers. We met people on the beach who were not happy with Ambergris, so we shopped around in town and found Ecological. They were superb ... very customer oriented, similarly priced, and attentive to each customer and their unique needs and desires. 3) How were the accommodations at Sunset Condos in Belize? Perfect! The condo was nice, clean, private yet close to town and activities. Carlos was easy to get ahold of and had a lot of ideas on what to do. We've been to all-inclusive places, and this was so cool because there was not blaring music and a zillion people. 4) Would you recommend my services, Belize and Sunset Condos to others? Why or why not? We've already been telling people about the property! I highly recommend Sunset Condos. In fact, at the airport in Dallas we were talking to a guy who was arranging a trip to Belize and took down your information. Thanks again! Susan April,2006 Hello Deborah, This is Gary.. 1) What did you think about Belize? Belize was great! It certainly met all our expectations, and then some. There are a lot of places in the world that I have not been, and I want to see as many as I can, while I can. Therefore, I don't often return to places I have already been. However, Belize will be one of the exceptions. Speaking for my wife and I, it really would like to return some day. 2) What did you enjoy the most about your vacation? For Eileen and I, our 6 days at the jungle lodge (DuPlooy's) were the highlight of our trip. The Mayan ruins, the abundant wildlife, the (incredibly) bug-less jungle, and the people and facilities of the lodge were fabulous. This is not to imply in any way the beach portion was not terrific. It's just the Cayo District was truly unique. 3) How were the accommodations at Sunset Condos in Belize? The Sunset Condos were perfect for us! Plenty big, great location, hardly any people around, and the help we got from Manuel and Carlos were invaluable. They (especially Manuel), could not have been better. He was there for us every time we needed to go someplace, always right on time, gave us good suggestions for shopping, etc., and would have done just about any favor we needed. Carlos's snorkeling trips were the best we've had. As well as the reef (which was about as good as it gets), his guides/drivers were especially helpful and friendly, definitely not the run of the mill tourist-oriented types. It was like going out with your cousin. Carlos also set us up with a nice half-day fishing trip with his Uncle. 4) Would you recommend my services, Belize and Sunset Condos to others? Why or why not? I would most definitely recommend your services and the condo, especially if several couples such as we had were to go down there together. BTW, what is the summer rate for the one-bedroom, should my wife and I be able to get down there again soon? Thanks, Gary. April, 2006 Hello Deborah ~ 1) What did you think about Belize? Belize was wonderful! It is beautiful and fairly clean (meaning there wasn't a lot of trash left on the streets and on the beaches). I believe the restaurants and services (excluding Sunset Condos) were over-priced. 2) What did you enjoy the most about your vacation? What I like best about Belize was there was no need to rush. Time was never an issue. There was really not much of a schedule. 3) How were the accommodations at Sunset Condos in Belize? The Accommodations were nice and the price to rent a Sunset Condo was reasonable. One thing that was a little frustrating was the distance from the Condo into the heart of the city...It would have been nice if the golf carts were part of the condo package. I'd even pay more if they were included in the package. 4) Would you recommend my services, Belize and Sunset Condos to others? Why or why not? I would ABSOLUTELY recommend your services and Sunset Condos! I can't wait to go back next year. Thank you, JoJo Warner April, 2006 Hi Deb, Here's a quick response to your email, San Pedro is absolutely a great place to vacation. From the locals throwing chickens to the gators (interesting that no one has lost an arm or leg) to the fantastic way that the locals make you feel welcome. (What a laid back place) A very relaxing atmosphere. The best part for us was the snorkeling over brilliantly colored coral and unique fish. Swimming with nurse sharks and stingrays was awesome. Would I go back to Belize? absolutely. As far as your service and help, it was fantastic, from our initial inquiries to the help with our flights and certainly your efforts in helping to find my luggage. Thanks again and we certainly will recommend you in the future. Blaine P April 2006 Deb, What we enjoyed most: the beautiful, peaceful pool and beach. We had the place to ourselves! We loved the casual, easy going lifestyle. The people were extremely nice and helpful. We liked Sunset condos location and the beautiful, "uncrowded" pool and beach area. We liked that BC's is next door for snacks and drinks. (I like having daquiries nearby!). Carlos was very helpful with lining up snorkel trips and just a really nice guy. Also, my parents locked themselves out on our first day there, and Melinda was available and fast at getting them back in. Would we recommend you & Belize? Absolutely. I think it may not be for everyone (those who don't like riding bumpy roads in golf carts), but we loved it and hope to go back. Janet B. April, 2006 Deborah, We had a great time in Belize! I enjoyed the people of Belize the most as they are truly sincere and helpful. Swimming with the sting rays and sharks was very rare and a memorable experience. It is a beautiful country and I'm sure will become more popular as more people visit it. The Sunset Condos were overall a great place to stay. They were far enough away from town that you had some privacy but yet close enough that you could bike or cart in to town. .. I would recommend Sunset Condos to others. As far as suggestions to make things better for our stay, I would have appreciated getting two sets of keys rather than one as we were given. When two couples are sharing a unit they don't always have the same schedules. Additionally, I had to turn the bike lock key in to Chopin at night and get it from him in the morning the next day. I understand that they needed to be locked up and I did so at Sunset and in town. I just think maybe a second key could be made and if there is a sign up system or deposit to be put on the bikes, that would be fine. Deb, thank you for your help in our vacation as we did have a very enjoyable time. Duane April, 2006 Deborah We most enjoyed the peaceful relaxing atmosphere and the friendly people. The weather was perfect. Thank you! Janet March 22, 2006 Deb, Thank you very much for following up with us. My husband and I truly enjoyed ourselves. I think the best thing about the vacation was the solitude, and not feeling that there were people all around you as we have felt at some resorts. Laying on the lounge, we felt like we were in paradise! The freedom to explore the town was fabulous. We have been on several vacations where the resort encourages you NOT to leave the resort. It was fun to ride bikes into town and feel very comfortable with the gracious locals! Not only would we return, we have encouraged many people to explore Belize. I will put a posting on Tripadisor.com, a web site that we use as a reference tool when planning our trip. No worries, it will sing praises of both the island and the condos. Thanks again for a lovely vacation! Mary and James Brooks March, 2006 Dear Deb, We had a wonderful time! The condo is beautiful. Chompin is terrific! And Carlos was a wonderful tour guide as always - professional and a lot of fun. Thank you for all you did for us! I will be in touch about next year. Thank you again! Jennifer March, 2006 Deborah, Thank you for following up with us regarding our trip to Belize. We had a fantastic time! Here are the answers to your questions: 1) The thing we enjoyed the most about our vacation was the lack of commercialism and large hotel chain resorts (Marriott, Hilton, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, etc) that you find in other areas. We also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The locals were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. 2) Yes, we will be back! Loved that the condo's were out of the way and the resort was small (more of a relaxed environment). Also liked that BC's South was located right next door. The condo's were clean and well maintained. Chopin was a very nice man who didn't hesitate to help us out when requested. 3) Yes, I would recommend Sunset to others but not to the young, nightlife crowd. We would recommend it to families and older people looking to relax. Clean, beautiful view and nice beach. Loved the hammocks. Looking forward to our next trip. Keep us in mind if you represent any other condos or if there are any new changes that occur with Sunset Condos. Thanks again. Ariel February 2006 Hi Deb, Let's see, the most enjoyable part of the vacation was how relaxing it was. That was the least stressed I have been in years. The condos were great, everything was as advertised. The other residents were friendly and Carlos and his crew are unbelievable. We had a lot of fun visiting with him as well as the excursion to Lamanai. I would definitely recommend the condos to others and actually already have. We are planning on making the trip again next year, probably with more friends as well. Mike. February, 2006 Deborah, We cannot tell you how much we enjoyed the condo's, Carlos, Chopin, Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Belize. Our 5 year old wants to move there when he gets big! I'm afraid the bar has been raised for what a beach vacation is 'supposed' to be in the minds of both of the boys! Thank you and Mary so much for arranging the transport and everything... We are not sure when, but do know that another trip down there is in order - too many good people and too much more to see to not go back! Thanks for sharing such a special place, Leah Rond January, 2006 Deborah, I probably enjoyed my time in the hammock more than anything else! I enjoyed meeting the people on Ambergris Caye; they were warm and wonderful, especially Carlos and his family. We enjoyed snorkeling, walking the beach, etc. Our one day in Belize City was not fun and I wouldn't recommend anyone go there. I think it is dangerous. The condo was great. One of the owners asked us what we would add and all of us thought it would be nice to have a coin washer / dryer available. Otherwise, I couldn't think of much. I would recommend them to someone else. As for whether we will return or not, probably not. There's a lot of the world I want to see so I'll probably work to that end. maggie JANUARY, 2006 Deborah: We enjoyed our stay very much. From meeting Mary, Chopin, Carlos, Emanuel and others, I can tell you've put together a very nice place to stay with a good staff of people to get us around the island. It's likely most of your guests consider the merits of buying property when on vacation, and I think that Sally and I are no different. We thought that from an ownership standpoint, your location was about ideal. With a pool and easy access to the ocean, plus the bonus of having so many tour operators willing to pick us up right at the dock, we must say that it was very enjoyable. Any closer to town, and I imagine that the foot traffic on the beach becomes a bit much. We would not hesitate to recommend the property to others that we know. In fact, perhaps we'd be a repeat customer if we visit the island again. Joel, the bartender at BC's South, arranged a friend of his to take us fishing the first day we were there, and we caught 29 fish, mostly yellow tail. From Mayan ruins to scuba diving, we did all of the things we desired. I don't know how I would suggest that anything could be improved, but if pressed, perhaps I might suggest you check how well the television is working in our condo. I think the remote may not work properly, and I think the available channels were limited and not in good reception. I believe Chopin or Mary might be looking into this further. Again, thanks for allowing us to enjoy the property. We wish you well with it! Larry King Deb, We had a fantastic time in Belize. Here are the answers to your questions: San Pedro itself was great, its one of the coolest, most laid back little towns, I've been to. However, I liked the fact that we out of town a little - there was a less hustle and bustle. Plus, as everybody on the trip will attest, I liked driving the buggy around town. I would vacation there again. It was very laid back and relaxing and had a cool feel all the way around. We had a great vacation there. A diswasher would really add to the place. An internet connection might have been nice too, but on the other hand I'm probably glad we didn't have one. I thought the condo was great overall. Our trip to Belize was truly one of the best vacations I've taken in some time, so I hope that you take the above suggestions/criticisms as constructive and an attempt to make a great place even better. I've CC'd some of the other people on the trip so that they can add any additional thoughts. Best, Rob Deb, I wanted to add as a side note to my brother Rob's comments (above). Manuel and Carlos were very helpful and entertaining additions to our vacation. Manuel was very helpful in aiding me to find my brother Rob the day of our arrival and made sure that we got to Sunset Condos promptly. Carlos gave us an excellent snorkel trip to the reef even towing my father around on a floating donut. It's a very nice amenity to have a tour guide living right in your back yard. As my brother stated, perhaps our best vacation ever and one of the few places I really did not want to leave at the end of the week. Thank you, William Rutschow Deb, We first want to thank you for making our trip more successful with answering all our questions. We really enjoyed the condo at Sunset and felt we had our own private home and pool because we saw so little of anyone else! It was just the perfect setting. We loved the contrast of Ambergris after our visit to Hopkins, which was also very memorable but in a different way. The town of San Pedro was great fun and we loved tooling about on the golf carts. The pace of life there is certainly nice. Everyone was so friendly too. We will definitely look forward to coming again and then maybe seeing more of the island....we enjoyed the beach and diving so much that we hardly did anything else! The one comment I would make on the condo is that it would have been nice to have a washer and dryer. Mary was a very helpful to us in coordinating the cab, the golfcart rental (which we had a ball on!) and any other questions and came by to meet us on arrival. She made herself accessible and we appreciated having someone there to ask, should something arise. Thank you again for all your help. We hope to be going to Belize again and will certainly want to stay just where we did! Thank you, Judy DEB-MARK HERE-THANKS FOR LETTING US STAY AT YOUR PLACE! WE HAD THE BEST TIME EVER IN BELIZE.WE CAUGHT ABOUT 350 FISH! LOVED THE CONDO! MARY WAS VERY NICE.THANKS AGAIN-WE HAD A BLAST! WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! ~Mark Wilson Hi Deb, Thank you very much for letting us stay at your beautiful condo. Johnny and I loved it and had a wonderful time. I loved being able to just walk outside and have the ocean right there. We spent most of our time at the condo on the steps. The view was spectacuclar and the colors were amazing. I would love to visit Ambergise Caye again and it would be a pleasure to stay at Sunset again. We had a very busy schedule. We dived three days, went cave tubing and visited the Mayan ruins - Laminai. The time just went too fast. (that is my only complaint) The people on the island are very friendly and trustworthy. We had a great time. Johnny may be back at the end of June. Thank you so much Sincerely, Sandy Dear Deb We truly enjoyed our week at Sunset. The Condo was terrific - undoubtedly the nicest we have stayed at in the last five years we have been taking trips south. I don't think there is anything about it that you could improve. We had spent the first week of our vacation on the main land which was very interesting and I think there are some more things we would like to see in the northern part of the country. Ambergris was meant to be very relaxing and it was. We very much enjoyed Carlos and Alex. The snorkeling was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The only things we felt were less than ideal was the fact the beach although beautiful was not swimable because of the seagrass.. We made good use of the bikes and rented a golf cart for a day. We ate out four nights and cooked in twice. We made all our breakfasts and most of our lunches at the condo. We thought golf cart rentals were somewhat excessive so we didn't use them anymore than the one day. I think you have a great place. I think you could market the snorkeling a little more and the place is great for windsurfing - not that I do it but saw a fellow next door take off from the beach and it looked like great fun. I would be happy to provide a reference to anyone interested in staying at your place. I think we will be back in two to three years. Next year is the time share in Mexico. Yours truly Richard Dickson "Dear Deborah, The most wonderful thing about our trip to Belize was the amazing variety of sea life. We have snorkeled throughout the Caribbean, the east and west coast of Mexico and the South Pacific. The snorkeling in Belize is second only to Tahiti. With guides on the Hol Chan/Shark-Ray Ally tour we were able to pet nurse sharks and a sting ray. We saw spiney star fish, a huge green eel, a jumbo hermit crab in a conch shell, a giant turtle and many other creatures. Marti Wagner - Deb - Let me tell you that our honeymoon trip to Ambergris Caye was completely "unbelizeable!" One recommendation for all of your future visitors: If you can book a norkeling trip or excursion through Suya tours, ask for Gavino. He was fantastic! Very nice, always on time and just a great guy all around. Overall, this was a wonderful trip that we look forward to repeating. Thanks again Deb for being so thorough, walking us through the process and helping us to make sure that we covered all the details. Just what we needed, especially in the midst of planning our wedding! Thanks again!" Pete Deborah, "This was our second trip to Belize and our first stay in San Pedro... having bikes available was wonderful for grocery shopping and exercise, the pool was just the right size to relax or swim, the beach was well maintained, the snorkling trips with Carlos were fun, don't miss the 4:30 PM feeding of the 13f crocodile by the local kids at the lagoon close by, rent a golf cart for at least a day, and take advantage of the cayak and sail boat rental at a close by resort, and check out the iguanas at the beach and the property next door. If you like to relax in quiet, comfortable surroundings, this is the location for you!" Lothar and Melanie Hi Deb, The vacation was excellent! We had four days of snorkeling, a two-day trip to Guatemala, and a trip to Altun Ha... Overall, the experience was memorable. Thank you for your assistance." Best regards, Robert Deb, "Our vacation last month to Ambergris Caye was truly memorable. The weather was perfect, the water was perfect and the atmosphere was perfect. From the moment we stepped off the plane everything and everyone was wonderful. Maybe its because the island is small that you get an immediate sense of community. The folks living on the Ambergris are some of the friendliest we have met anywhere. When you pass on the street everyone smiles and warmly greets you." A popular trip among my customers is the Tikal tour offered on my site through Tropic Air. Here is one customer's response to his experience: Deborah, the Tikal trip was superlative! There was a brilliant guide, who responded to his interested, small party by having lunch on the go, permitting more time among the temples. I have seen most of the world's archelogical treasures, and Tikal, with our superb Mayan guide, did not disappoint." Dr. Whitehead (A frequent traveler to Ambergris Caye) A customer comments on the difference between Mexico and Belize. She writes "I would LOVE to share my Belize information with your customers. My husband and I have been to Playa Del Carmen in Mexico and stayed at the Royal Hideaway Resort and Spa. It was very expensive and not NEARLY as enjoyable as Belize. My husband and I flew into Belize City and then took a small sea plane to Ambergris Caye (San Pedro). The people are very friendly and speak ENGLISH! Someone once told me that when you get there you can take your shoes off and not put them back on until you get ready to head back home. I didn't believe them but it is soooooo true. We landed on a sand airstrip and received our "roundtrip transportation" from the airport to the hotel. Our transportation consisted of a barefoot guy in a golfcart. It was great. The water and beaches are beautiful. We went to the ruins, snorkeling, snorkeling with the nurse sharks at Shark Ray Alley, night clubbing at Barefoot Iguanas, cave tubing 20 miles from the Guatemala border. It was a true rustic experience. Everyone drives Golf Carts, stays barefoot, and they are very welcoming. Please refer to the website www.ambergriscaye.com for a complete guide to Ambergris Caye. We also took a 15 minute boat ride to Caye Cauker (tiny island) near Ambergris. It is very uninhabited and gorgeous. In Belize you n get hour long massages on the beach for $50. Meals are great and often cooked over open fire on the beach where you just go by and get a plate. We loved it and are planning to go back again this year. If you really want to go and make it a worthwhile trip, you need to invest in Fodor's Belize/Guatemala book. Lots of info there. Let me know if I can give you any more information."
